Fleury D’Aude – July 19.

We wandered down the stairs ( 2 steep flights – very good for the thigh’s) around 9.30. What a spread. Freshly baked croissants and bread from the village bakery, fresh fruit, cereal, cold meats, jam and buckets of great coffee!

It was another sunny day and the girls and I wanted a day off sightseeing. After doing some much needed laundry – thankyou Elaine for all your help here, we decided a day at the beach was in order. We were only about 20km’s from the coast, and had not yet had a swim in the Mediterranean. So Brian dropped us at St.Pierre de mur, and he want off looking at vineyards and stuff.

At least this Mediterranean beach had sand! There were quite a few people on the beach, but plenty of space, so settled in for an afternoon of reading, sunbathing and swimming. (Better than your cold Melbourne winter day at the office!) It is quite funny watching Europeans at the beach. There are no boogey boards (mind you there were also no waves) and they do not actually swim, but prefer to stand around in the water about thigh deep. Topless sunbathing is also quite the norm! The water was quite warm, and the sun quite strong. Courtenay and Rebecca had a good layer of 50+ sunscreen on, but as we found out later, had missed a few bits!

Dinner tonight was the local Pizza restaurant – not a patch on last nights feast, and about the same price!
